Meet the Founder: Victoria James

Creative. Curator. Companion on the Journey to Becoming.

Hi, I’m Victoria—but you can call me V.

I’ve spent most of my life imagining this moment: putting pen to paper to share a longing not just for fashion and creativity, but for the mystery and beauty of God.

I’m a small-town girl from Georgia, raised between cotton fields and stoplights, always dreaming beyond what I could see. I come from a big family—many siblings on both sides—but you’ll often hear me talk about my twin, my older sister, and my younger one.

My love for editorial fashion began with my mom. She subscribed to Jet and Essence magazines, and every day after school, I’d rush to check the mailbox—hoping to get there before she did. Those glossy pages were more than inspiration. They were possibility. They made me dream of sets, storytelling, and one day creating something that could live inside culture too.

But where I come from, you’re taught to play it safe. Success looked like nursing or teaching—stable, respectable, and certain. Still, I couldn’t silence the deeper pull.

Years later, the Lord would place me in two unexpected spaces: the 18 Inch Journey and the Leather Collective. It was there—in the grain of cowhide and the rhythm of craftsmanship—that I began to wake up. I realized I’d been living quietly, waiting for permission to create. And God, in His kindness, was giving it.

Why Victorian Avenue?

Because I believe fashion is more than getting dressed. It’s about telling the truth of who you are. I started this brand not to impress, but to invite—to create a space where both influence and the unknown hold value. Where beauty and meaning walk hand in hand.

This isn’t just a media brand. It’s a journal. A mirror. A gathering place for women who are becoming.

What You Can Expect?

That you’ll feel brave enough to ask:
Who am I, and Will I dare to become?
